Choose the right resting place for your loved one’s ashes

More and more people are choosing cremation for their final arrangements, but many have yet to consider a final resting place for their remains. Allegheny Cemetery has several available options tailored specifically to cremation interment, allowing you to choose a space that feels right for you.

Cremation burial can be arranged anywhere in our cemetery that allows for traditional burial, but additionally, there are some areas on our grounds curated specifically for those who choose this route, including the rustic beauty of the Allegheny Memorial Trail and the tranquil serenity of our Urn Garden.

Cremation Burial Options at Allegheny Cemetery

Allegheny Memorial Trail

The upper entrance to the Allegheny Memorial Trail is adorned with a stone patio and benches that overlook the tree-lined hillside below. It leads into the cool shade of a wooded area that calls to mind the serenity of local hiking trails. Often frequented by the cemetery’s wide array of wildlife, the upper trail allows for an escape into nature. The lower trail leads into the sunny valley below, and is open to the main road that traverses the two cemetery entrances. Two parking spaces are located conveniently at the lower trail head.

Additionally, the lower trail contains spaces reserved for private columbaria, which allows you the option to design a custom monument that will hold multiple urns. This can be useful for family planning, or for creating a unique and lasting tribute that will remain a prominent feature of the cemetery for generations.

Urn Garden

A select few spaces are left in our peaceful Urn Garden, located conveniently near our Chapel of the Angels. Nestled far from our entrances, the Urn Garden allows for a calm sense of privacy and seclusion. A bench is located right off the road for quiet reflection.

Cremation Niches

Both of our public mausoleums, the Temple of Memories and the Chapel of the Angels, offer niches for cremation interment. Niches in the Temple of Memories are available with glass fronts, to display your carefully chosen urn, or with granite fronts for a more modest, private option. In the Chapel of Angels, the niche banks face outward from either side of the entrance, fronted with bronze reliefs of trumpeting angels and accented with etched name plaques for memorialization.
